Banned by PayPal

21 Feb

That’s right, banned. I have remained quiet, waiting patiently to see what was going on but now I must speak up.

It appears that PayPal has taken it upon itself to purge the indie erotica authors that plague the internet. They started last week when I and fellow erotica authors recieved an email from BookStrand stating we needed to remove any titles with incest, pseudo incest, rape and bestiality.  Until BookStrand complies and removes all that PayPal identifies as “obscene” their accounts are frozen.

Well needless to say I was shocked! PayPal gets to make these decisions?

I complied immediately going over and removing the titles as they requested.

Today my account was canceled. My books are no longer available at BookStrand.

I feel that you should know we are being told what is okay to purchase and what is not okay.

All deemed so by some sort of morality police hiding behind the innocent PayPal symbol.

The thing that pisses me off the most is what I and other erotica authors are writing and selling are perfectly legal acts between consenting adults. A Step Daughter and Step Father are not blood relation. It isn’t incest. This is fantasy we are talking about.

Barely legal is still legal. 18 yr old men and women have sex.

Yesterday I also recieved a notice from All Romance Ebooks. They are making changes… will indie erotica authors be part of it or will they be kicked to the curb? I suppose we will see what happens next.

Until then you can find all my naughty stories at Amazon.com  BarnesandNoble.com and Smashwords.com

I really hope this gets changed, but who’s going to stand up for erotica writers and consumers? Most people are too ashamed to even talk about it!

I know exactly what you’re talking about because I was banned from Paypal for using them as a payment provider on my website http://www.babesoul.com. We don’t even offer the fringe erotica that you’ve mentioned in your editorial, just pretty standard nudie content, but even that was deemed a violation on Ebays morally conservative judgement.

I also want to mention that my account was is good standing, I had 0% fraud and many happy customers that would come back repeatedly to make purchases through Paypal. Hate to say it, but I feel that this is the moral majority of America taking us back into the stone age and business determining what we eat, see and think. Thank you George Orwell.
